Photo Session with Young Children: Tips for Parents

1. Don’t put pressure on your child

The best thing you can do is not tell your child that they must pose.

Instead:

• say that it will be a walk or a fun activity;
• avoid words like “you must behave” or “you have to smile”;
• keep the mood light and relaxed.                                                                               Children feel pressure very quickly. The more relaxed they are, the more natural the photos will be.

2. Choose comfortable clothing

Comfort always comes first.

The best choices are:

• soft fabrics;
• clothes without tight collars or stiff seams;
• simple designs without large logos.

Colors that look beautiful in photos:

• cream, beige, sand;
• soft blue, grey, olive;
• blush, pastel pink.

Try to avoid neon colors and very busy prints.

3. Bring snacks and water

Even a short session can be tiring.

A small snack or water helps:

• prevent meltdowns;
• allow short breaks;
• keep your child in a good mood.
